Robert "Bob" Stevens

1927 - 2016

Stevens, Robert Bob88, of Oviedo, FL, passed away on April 29, 2016, after a long illness. Bob was born on September 30, 1927 in Kenosha, WI. Bob was a 1954 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Merchant Marine. Later, he also served in the U.S. Army, and in the Navy Reserve. He met Irene Borchardt, the love of his life and life-long dance partner, at a dance at the Memorial Union of the University of Wisconsin. They married in July of 1954 in Merrill, WI and worked in Milwaukee, WI. In 1958, they moved back to his hometown Kenosha, raised a family, owned and operated Bob Stevens Pharmacy, Inc. for over 30 years. In 1991, they retired and moved to Oviedo, FL. Bob was active in the Wisconsin Pharmaceutical Society, in the Deutsch-Amerikanischer National Kongress (DANK) and the Seminole County Democratic Party. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Irene E. (Borchardt) Stevens, his parents, John W. Stevens, Jr. and Helen Marie (Peterson) Stevens, his brother, John H. Stevens, and his sisters, Peggy (Stevens) Briney and Mary Lou (Stevens) Kasten. Bob, beloved father, and grandfather, is survived by his son Captain Rom A. Stevens, Medical Corps, US Navy (Ret.), daughter-in-law Dr. Marianne Mikat-Stevens of Indian Head Park, IL; son Matt H. Stevens, PhD and daughter-in-law Nicola (Matthews) Stevens of St. Paul, MN; and daughter Julie A. (Stevens) McLean and son-in-law Gary McLean of Geneva, FL, seven grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews. He is deeply missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held on May 27 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo, 263 King St., Oviedo, FL 32765.
