David Anthony “Tony” Gillis

David Anthony "Tony" Gillis, age 71, of Tawas City died on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016 at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw.
Tony was born the son of Allie and Lola (Smith) Gillis on July 5, 1945 in Dayton, Tenn. Tony graduated from Flushing High School in 1963 and proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era from 1965 to 1968. Tony worked in several different professions over his years including General Motors, Delphi, Roger McIntosh and McNally's car dealerships, and also co-owner of Van City Custom Auto Sound.
Tony loved to restore cars and motorcycles, reading books about history, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Tony was also considered by his family to be a grill master!
Tony is survived by his three sons, David, Matthew (Gina) and Bryan "Tony" Gillis; his mother, Lola Gillis; grandsons, Grant, Luke, Jack and Aaron Gillis; his siblings, Larry (Sharon) Gillis, Rainelle Bryan and Scott (Marilyn) Gillis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Allie M. Gillis.
Funeral services with military honors will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. (instate at 10 a.m.) at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tawas City Chapel. A burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date in Sims-Whitney Cemetery in AuGres.
