Mildred E. White
Mildred Elizabeth White, of Midland, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior, January 31, 2024 at MediLodge of Midland.
She was born September 10, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, to her parents Deuel and Mildred Hays. She attended Midland High School but completed her high school education through correspondence.
Mildred married John P. White on April 5, 1958. They were married for 62 years until his death on January 5, 2021.
John and Millie were members of Calvary Baptist Church of Midland, MI and were active in many ministries there. Mildred served in the Beginner's Church teaching multiple generations about Jesus. John and Mildred served for many years on the Missionary Committee at Calvary Baptist Church, supporting missionaries all over the world.
Mildred started work at the Midland Hospital at the age of 16 working alongside her mother. She worked at the hospital for 37 years. Mildred was successful and excelled in the medical transcriptionist field. She began her own remote work site for multiple persons in the transcription industry setting up MWMT, Mildred White Medical Transcription. She was an early pioneer of remote work and moving from typewriters to computers in the industry.
Mildred is best known by many friends and family for her love of the Bible and love for Christ. Daily Mildred and John could be found praying and reading their Bible. Mildred had a passion for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was faithful in taking time in their life in cooking, baking, gardening, and sewing. She was always available.
Mildred's four brothers preceded her in death; Deuel (Dorothy) Hays, Dennis (Janice) Hays, Doug (Detta) Hays and Don (Barbara) Hays.
Mildred is survived by her sisters Patricia (Ralph) Morris of Gering, NE, Janie (Terry) Stephens of Alma, MI, and Gwen (Dan) Wamhoff of Midland, daughters Joni (Jim) Real of Louisburg, KS, Julie (John) Day of Midland, and Jill (Jim) Pilgrim of Midland. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Jamie (Jeff) Angel, Jonathan (Amber) Day, James (Tiffany) Day, Jennilyn (Joel) Small, Jessica Day, Joshua Pilgrim and Nathaniel Pilgrim, along with 13 great-grandchildren; Jordan Clark, Gracie Koop, BraLynn Clark, Sadie Day, Peyton Day, Zoe Angel, Jordyn Small, Jenna Small, Isla Angel, Josie Small, Garrhett Day, Jaxson Day, and Hattie Day.
The family would like to recognize MediLodge of Midland for their care, comfort and support of Mildred. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 am Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church, 6100 Perrine Road, Midland. Pastor James Day will officiate with a burial to follow in the Midland Cemetery. Millie's family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Calvary Baptist Church Missions Fund or Calvary Baptist Academy. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Directors.
