METROPOLIS, Ill. - James Albert White Jr., 75, of Metropolis, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, at his residence.
James was retired from Local 160 as a pipefitter/welder. He was a member of Metropolis Masonic Lodge, American Legion, and First Baptist Church. He was a 1969 graduate of Metropolis High School before graduating from Shawnee Community College and SIU. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and riding his Harley.
Surviving are his three children, Desiree' Renee Stumpf and fiancé, Jeff; Deidre N. Little and husband, Daniel; and Larissa Sommer; 13 grandchildren, Drew Mizell and wife, Morgan, Adrienne Martin, Emma Grace Martin, Caleb Holman, Landon Holman, Katherine Holman, Logan Little, Violet Little, Scarlett Little, Austin Myers, Blake Shade, Jacqueline Kommer, Jonathan Sommer; and one great-grandson Emmett Mizell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine "Kathy" (Hendrix) White; his parents, James Albert White Sr. and Esther "Dolly" (Robinson) White; one daughter, Michelle Myers; and one grandson, Dylan Myers.
Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. David Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Friends may visit the family from 10 a.m. to service hour on Saturday at the funeral home.
