Gildardo Gomez Obituary

Gildardo Gomez died on Jan. 2 at the age of 85.

Mr. Gomez was born on Feb. 9, 1935, in Jalisco, Mexico. He came to the U.S. through the Bracero Program, working in several areas of California before settling in Watsonville in 1972.

He was self-employed in the agriculture business and loved nature. He enjoyed making his loved ones laugh with his jokes and storytelling. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and was known to grow an amazing vegetable garden.

Mr. Gomez is preceded in death by his parents Tomas Gomez Aceves and Andrea Morales Renteria.

He is survived by his dear wife of 60 years, Marina Gomez, and his four children: Tomas Gomez, Roberto Gomez, Monica Gomez and Sergio Gomez. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was dedicated to his family, will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew his kind nature.

A visitation service will be held on Jan. 14, from 5-7pm at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel in Watsonville. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Assumption Church in Pajaro on Jan. 15 at 10am.
