Susan McBride Obituary

Susan Alyse Petersen McBride, the fifth generation of the Stephen Scurich family in the Pajaro Valley, was called to be with her Heavenly Father on March 12, 2023. She was 74.
A lifelong resident of Watsonville, Susan was born into the Petersen Cattle family and raised in Watsonville, a true daughter of the Pajaro Valley. She was very proud of her family's legacy and philanthropy. She attended local schools and after graduating from college, she enjoyed a successful career in the textile and design industry which earned her a Lifetime Achievement award in the 2008 "Who's Who" list. Though she lived in various places over the years, she returned to Watsonville, the place she called home.
She was the life of the party, and her smile could light up any room she walked into. Her friendly, social nature led her to many close and lifelong friendships. Susan loved, appreciated, and created art, being a painter herself, and shared her love of art in its many forms with her family and friends. She loved antiques and collectibles, but adored animals even more, having many wonderful dogs throughout her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Allan Edwin Petersen and Jeanne Sambuck Petersen, her brother John Petersen, and sister Joan Petersen White. Susan was a wonderful, loving person who touched many lives with her humor and wit. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
A Celebration of Life in Susan's honor will be held at the Pajaro Valley Historical Association 332 E. Beach Street, Watsonville, on Saturday, July 8th at 12:30pm with lunch starting at 1:30pm.

Susie was a beautiful wonderful person. I have many fun memories of our teenage years and when we reconnected years later, I was astonished at the life she had led and the many challenges she faced with great
strength and resilience. She is truly an inspiration to me. I feel so blessed to have known her and I miss her.

Donna Dixon daughter of Pat Sambuck. Susie was my First Cousin her Mother and my Mother Sisters. She was my closest relative. Her Mother and her 3 Children have passed on with unfortunately no children.
I have no children and so unfortunately the Sambuck and Petersen family tree ends. I have 2 half Brothers and Sisters from Patricia Sambuck´s 2nd marriage. Chelsey Mowbray my Niece has 3 wonderful children to carry us forward.
May Susie Rest in Peace in God´s hands as she had many unfortunate situations in her life that she survived and rose above. God Bless her memory!
