Russell Frances Cox

Richmond, Ind. - Russell Frances Cox, age 85, of Richmond, Indiana, died Friday, June 29, 2018, at Reid Health.

Born May 16, 1933, in Hindman, Kentucky, to William S. and Pauline Dyer Cox, Russell moved to Richmond in 1954. He was owner and operator of the Phillips 66 station. Russell was employed by Keystone Beverage for 20 years. He was an avid car enthusiast, was a member of the Vintage Wheels Car Club, and built several cars with his boys and grandchildren. Russell had a very unique character and personality. Once you met him, you never forgot him. Russell will be remembered by his family and friends by the love and friendship he extended to all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Hazel Childers Cox; children, Timothy D. (Vicki) Cox of Plainfield, Indiana, Russell J. Cox of Richmond, and Joni E. (Larry) Martin of Princeton, Indiana; grandchildren, Oren J. Martin of Princeton, Josh C. Martin of Patoka, Indiana, Whitney P. (Chris) Taylor of Denver, Colorado, Anthony D. (Jessica) Cox of Phoenix, Arizona, and Tony F. (Charlotte) Cox of Charleston, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Talia, Timothy, Thomas, and Terrance Cox, Cecelia Taylor, and Anin and Keeley Martin; sister, Jerri Cox of Jackson, Kentucky; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Martha, Virginia, and Betty Jo; and brothers, Paul, Darrell, and Harvey.

There will be no public services for Russell Frances Cox. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.

He was always so kind and funny to me...I remeber when he use to being us those big inflatable beach balls..And his Love for cars...You all were the last of the original 14th street families...
