My wife and I offer our deepest sympathies and prayers for God's comfort for the Nehrings family.
I am so thankful to have met and known David Nehrings. It was 5 or 6 years ago when I first got to know David in the Wednesday night men's Bible study at Jog Road Baptist Church. At that time he was still recovering physically from a serious fall while doing construction work many years earlier. He attended regularly to study the Bible and pray with us.
Over the next several years, I watched as God healed David physically and spurred remarkable spiritual growth in him. He established friendships with many of us in the Bible study as well as at a few other churches in the area.
Through many obstacles and setbacks, I watched David faithfully follow the Lord through financial hardships, serious illness, and difficulties with employment. He expressed his trust in God while he sought encouragement through our prayers and fellowship. There were many times when he offered prayers in supplication for others in our group, even while his own circumstances were very challenging.
After he completed his driver training, and then persevered through several disappointments with employers, it was a source of joy to me and others who knew him when he got a steady job driving a rig from coast to coast. My wife and I looked forward to his calls that kept us up to date on his travels around the country. He never failed to remark about viewing the beauty of God's creation from the cab of his truck. Many times he told us of Gospel conversations he had with people along the way.
He is and always will be one of my unforgettable friends. Looking forward to our next meeting - in heaven.
