Edith Berman Benjamin, 100, of Woodbridge, Connecticut, formerly of Millburn and South Orange, New Jersey, died peacefully in her home with her two sons, Michael R. Berman, MD of Woodbridge, Connecticut and New York, New York and William S. Berman, MD of Highland Beach, Florida at her side. She was pre-deceased by her husband's Abraham Paul Berman and Adrian Benjamin and by her sister, Ida Singer Bockian. Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, November 18, 1916, she was the daughter of Edward and Bertha Elbaum. In addition to her sons Michael and William, she is survived by two daughters-in-law, Nancy K. Berman (wife of Michael), Debby Levine Berman (wife of William), three grandchildren; Stephanie Berman Raphael and her husband Eric Raphael of New York, New York and Annie Berman Greenstein and her husband Seth Greenstein of Portola Valley, California (daughters of Nancy and Michael) and Aaron Levine of New York, New York (son of Debby and William Berman). She also is survived by four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, Nolan and Charlotte. Edith's life was full with joy and pride. She was bright, compassionate and unselfish and cherished her family and friends. She was proud to be a graduate of Montclair State Teachers College in 1938, now Montclair State University, with a degree in Biology and Chemistry and taught high school science. But her greatest signature on her life, besides her family, was her art work. She was a prolific artist for more than sixty years and filled her home with her many oil and watercolor artworks. A private funeral service will be held on Friday, April 14 at the Temple B'nai Jeshurun Cemetery in Hillside, New Jersey.
