Family-Placed ObituaryEDWARD JOSEPH WARD, M.D. Dr. Edward J. Ward passed away on April 25, 2009 at the age of 88. He was a resident of Stuart, Florida and a member of Mariner Sands Country Club. He was born on May 1, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA the son of William T. and Mae Abrams Ward. He graduated from Temple University, Hahnemann Medical College and the Graduate School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He served an internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Philadelphia General Hospital. He served as a Captain in the Medical Corps of the Army Air Corps in Italy and Germany. He was a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Founding Life Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Fellow of the International College of Surgeons, Member of the Gynecologic Urology Society, the Delaware County (PA) Medical Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American Medical Association. He served as an Instructor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine and as a Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hahnemann University School of Medicine. He practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology for thirty years in Delaware County, PA. He is survived by his devoted wife, Florence of sixty years; daughters, Candice Ward-Mayer, of Sewell, NJ, Deborah Ward Morrison (John) of Princeton, NJ, Susan Ward Metzger (Joseph Nachman) of NY, NY seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.He was predeceased by his son, William T. Ward II and his son-in-law, William S. Mayer, Jr. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Hobe Sound, FL on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
