Elizabeth Carson Obituary

Elizabeth "Ibby" Carson
Elizabeth Barrett Carson took her last breath on April 3, 2021. She was born 93 1/2 years ago in Princeton, NJ on October 8, 1927. Ibby spent much of her life in Hightstown, NJ and later in the nearby senior community, Rossmoor Village, in Monroe Township, NJ.
After finishing high school, Ibby worked as a bookkeeper for the local Hightstown pharmacy, Cunninghams, where she met a young pharmacy intern, V. Robert "Bob" Carson. Their romance led to marriage in 1948. They were married for 65 years prior to Bob's death in 2013.
Ibby helped with the operations of a local Hightstown dress shop, The Town Shop, which was owned by a life-long friend, Bea Rogers. She managed the shop's accounting and helped with sales and buying. Later, she worked at a financial service firm, Sword, in downtown Princeton, NJ.
Ibby was an accomplished seamstress and decorator. Her homes reflected her skill with fabrics, colors, and furniture. She excelled in needle craft and her projects were admired and sought after. Her work was displayed at local shops in downtown Princeton, at church and historical society functions, and in many homes. She loved the color blue and this color became her trademark.
During their marriage, Ibby and Bob spent several months each year in Florida. They were "snow birds" on Singer Island, and in 2011 relocated to the Waterford in Juno Beach.
Ibby had the good fortune to spend 10 years "living life at the Waterford," where she made good friends and enjoyed non-stop activities. She was an avid bridge player and displayed her craft work in their art shows.
Ibby's family would like to thank her Waterford friends for their support, especially during her declining health. You were so important to her and us. A special thanks to friends Wanda Miller, Cathy Dooley and her devoted caregiver Evelyn Talbot. Juanita Jones joined Ibby's caregiving team a few months ago and she was a great source of help and comfort.
Ibby's transition was made easier by the wonderful services and support of Trustbridge. The Sunflower Trustbridge team provided Ibby with consistent home support. Ibby received the incredible services of Trustbridge at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center during her final hours. We are so grateful to this entire organization.
Ibby will be reunited with her husband in the family cemetery in Hightstown, NJ.
At Ibby's request, there will be no memorial service or visitation in Florida. Remembrances in Ibby's name can be sent to Trustbridge Hospice Sunflower Team, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407.

My husband Brian and I loved to spend time with Ibby while visiting my mom, Wanda Miller at the Waterford. Ibby was a wonderful lady and always so interesting to talk to. I cherish my cross stitch bookmark she made for me! My mom, Wanda will always miss her. Ibby was there for her after my father’s death and helped her get through some tough times. They were best friends and looked after each other, I am so thankful for their friendship. She will be missed❤
