Irene FLYNN Obituary

FLYNN, Irene Piroska Irene Piroska Flynn (n?e Kantor), age 82, of Evanston, IL and Palm Beach, FL, and formerly of Winnetka, IL, died peacefully on Sunday, September 10, 2017 (which would have been her late-husband's 84th birthday), after a long illness. Born to the late John and Barbara Kantor, she was raised in Moncton, New Brunswick and Montreal, Quebec, Canada and proudly became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1985. A woman of great style, wit and substance, she was an accomplished pianist and artist, and model - who excelled at interior design and loved dancing, music, her bible studies at Saints Faith Hope & Charity Church, her Garden Club, singing, acting, travelling, and helping others - obtaining her nursing degree later in life and volunteering at NorthShore Evanston Hospital, which included serving on several Kellogg Cancer Center Blue Ribbon Panels. A loving mother, wife, grandmother, aunt and friend to all, she was very proud of her three children, Donna Flynn Page (and her husband Charles), Darren Robert Flynn (and his wife Roshni, and her grandson Andrew), and Diane Flynn Pollard (and her husband Vernon). She was predeceased by her cherished husband of 57 years, Robert Emmett Flynn, and sisters Barbara Allen and Mary Stoddard, and is survived by her sisters Mary Edwards and Nancy Clark. We also wish to express tremendous gratitude to her wonderful caregivers/angels Marina, Assana, Edna and Terri. Beautiful inside and out, she was a devoted, fun-loving and magnificent mother, who gave so much of her time, love and heart to her family. We want to thank you mom for always being there for us, teaching us, listening to us, helping and paving the way for us and always always loving us. You will be remembered as the true heart of our family who kept everyone centered and connected. A private Funeral Service was held at Donnellan Family Funeral Home in Skokie, IL on Saturday, September 16, 2017 and the entombment followed at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL. GOD SAW YOU GETTING WEARY. God saw you getting weary, He did what He thought best; He put His arms around you, and said, "Come and rest"; He opened up His golden gate on that heartbreaking day, and with His arms around you, you gently slipped away. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; A part of use went with you, the day God (and Dad) called you home." You (and Dad) are in our minds and hearts forever. LOVE, Donna, Darren and Diane

GOD'S GARDEN MUST BE BEAUTIFUL. God looked around His garden, and found an empty space. He looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you, and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, for He only takes the best. He knew that you were weary, and He knew that you were in pain. He knew that you would never be well on earth again. On that heartbreaking day, and with His arms around you - you gently slipped away. It broke our hearts to lose you and you did not go alone; a part of us went with you the day God called you home. In Loving Memory - We All Love You and Miss You So Much!

I was so sad to hear about your mother's passing. She was a very special lady and a wonderful aunt to me and my brother. This is a very difficult loss, and I wish all of you my sincere condolences on losing someone who was so important in your life. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you.

You can only have one mother, Patient, kind and true. No other friend in all the world will be the same with you. When other friends forsake you, to mother you will turn, for all her loving kindness, She asks nothing in return. As we look upon her picture, sweet memories we recall, Of a face so full of sunshine, and a smiles for one and all. Sweet Jesus take this message, to our dear mother up above, Tell her how we miss her - and give her all our love. Donna, Darren & Diane
