Leonard SESSA Obituary

SESSA, Leonard

Leonard Sessa, 93, of Palm Beach and Manhattan, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, August 18, 2013, with his loving wife Sunny, at his side. Lenny was an enormously successful man who always lived La Dolce Vita. His success and his larger than life personality will be missed by all who knew him. Lenny always remembered his beginnings and was available to all who knew him for his sage advice and guidance. He was born in Brooklyn, the son of Sicilian immigrants. After working since age seven, he created a nationally recognized system of multi-level catering. His famous Leonard's of Great Neck, on Long Island, is still the standard in the catering industry. In 2004 he received an honorary doctorate in commercial sciences from St. John's University commemorating his achievements. In Palm Beach Lenny was heavily and very successfully involved in various real estate ventures. He owned and operated La Famiglia restaurant and Club L. Lenny loved Sunny. He also loved to sing, enjoyed great food, his cars and, of course, his shoes. He is survived by his children Leonard (Janine), Denise and Robert; his two grandchildren Virginia and Lee and his great grandchild Jackson. In Palm Beach, his Charities included The Kravis Center (Major Benefactor) and L.I.F.E. All those who have been to The Kravis Center would recognize Lenny and Sunny at front row center at many events. Sunny will always be thankful to those who made his last days peaceful and full of love. A celebration of his remarkable life and a chance to say "Arrivederci" to Lenny will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33401.
