Michael D'Angelo, Jr., of Jupiter, FL, formerly Staten Island, NY, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 57 Years, Sylvia; daughter, Nancy; son, Michael III (Anne); brother, Pat (Karen); five grandchildren: Michael IV, Christina, Alyssa, Samantha, and Jessica; and one great-grandson: Leonardo. He was preceded in death by his sister, Louise and brother, Frank. Family and friends were most important to him. Michael retired from the City of New York Department of Sanitation as an officer in 1990. He was President and served on the Board of Governors for West Shore Little League for over 30 years. Mike was an original member of the Association of Olde Time Barbell and Strongmen "Iron Mike". He was a member of the Iceberg Athletic Club of Coney Island and the Polar Bear Club. An avid photographer, his favorite subject was his grandchildren at sporting events. He taught us all respect, love and never sweat the small stuff. A giant amongst men! Mike will be greatly missed by many good friends and loving family members. Visitation will be at Aycock-Riverside Funeral Home, 1112 N. Military Trail, Jupiter, FL on Monday, May 23rd from 9:00AM to 10:30AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Peter Catholic Church in Jupiter at 11:00AM.

Sylvia,was just thinking of "big mike" and just found out about your loss. Ive known mike since i was in diapers, im now 63. Such great memories of the relationship he had with my dad jerry for almost 60years. Iwill always rember the stories dad would tell about how mike first met dad as a teenager wanting to work out at dads gym (dongan hills barbell club) and how they became fast friends their whole lives. Such a loss. Mike was a giant among men. Maybe hes up in heaven lifting weights with dad now!! The world has lost another great man!

So sorry on the loss of this wonderful man. I remember "Mr. D'Angelo" growing up as a kid in the '70s and spending time with Nancy at her home. He was always so warm and friendly and made me feel so welcome and part of the family. He always made me laugh and had some of the funniest stories. He always saw the good in everything. He will be missed....

Dear D'Angelo Family,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of my cousin Junior. I have many happy memories of spending time with you all at Aunt Nancy and Uncle Mikes house. He always made me laugh as a kid and I was in awe of him when he was lifting those weights! Even though we have not seen each other in years, I think of those "family times" often. To Mrs D and family

I will always remember my younger days at the field where he would make me sing the "Meet the Mets" song for an ice cream. I got to spend some time with him on the Board of Directors and was honored that he was there for the 50th anniversary of the league.

He was a good man and he will be missed.
