Robert Craig HAMNER Sr.

HAMNER, Sr., Robert Craig LCdr. Robert Craig Hamner, Sr., USN Ret., passed away at the VA Hospice in West Palm Beach, Florida, on May 1, 2017. He was 87 years old. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Betty Ann "Betts" Brown Hamner and was the middle child of Col. George C. Hamner, USMC Ret., and Ruth Chambers Hamner, both deceased. He was predeceased by sister, Carroll Chambers Hamner and brother, George Gantt Hamner. He is survived by his son, Robert Craig Hamner, Jr. of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and daughter, Lisa Ann Hamner of New York City and granddaughter, Ava Hammond also of New York City and his sisters, Sally Hamner Massey of Lake Clarke Shores, and Ruth Louise Hamner and her husband, Jack Hengert of Waynesboro, VA, with numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Bob spent most of his life in the service of his country, 30 years in the Navy including two years as a Marine. He served in combat in Korea and Viet Nam. Retiring from the Navy in 1980 he went into real estate with Ted Brown Real Estate, retiring in 1995 as a real estate broker. A graveside military service will be conducted at Hillcrest Cemetery in West Palm Beach in the future.
