BLOOMINGTON - Earl Lester McIntyre Jr., aged 94, of Bloomington, Ill., passed away at 12:30 a.m., on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Martin Health Care Center in Bloomington.

A family service will be held at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, Ill., with military rites to be accorded by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Midwest Affiliate. Arrangements are being handled by Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, Ill.

Earl was born February 13, 1931, in Murphysboro, Ill., the son of Earl Lester and Mary Allen McIntyre. He married Patricia Selig on April 23, 1954, in St. Louis, Mo. She passed away November 11, 2020.

Surviving are his two children, Debra "Debbie" Nord, Bloomington, Ill., and Tim McIntyre, Austin, Texas; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Denise Spielman, Beaverton, Ore.

Earl is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Charles and Michael; his sister, Mary Jean; and his son-in-law, Dr. Harold Nord.

Earl proudly served in the U.S. Navy until April of 1953. Upon his discharge, he enrolled in S.I.U. Carbondale, eventually earning a master's degree in agriculture.

Earl began his professional career in 1955, teaching agriculture in Hillsboro, Ill., before beginning a new career with Country Companies as an insurance agent. Earl retired from County Companies in 1995 as an Executive Vice-President. After retirement, Earl and Pat enjoyed several trips overseas, relaxing in Florida, playing golf, and spending time with their family.

In writing about his life, Earl concluded simply, "God has been very good to me."

Debbie and Tim, I am so sorry to see this ... I thought about your Dad the other day and will always remember what a kind gentleman and boss he was when I was his secretary at Country Companies when he first came to the Bloomington office ... wow such a long time ago now! I think he was undoubtedly the best boss ever! Praying for you and your families and looking forward to seeing him and your Mom again one day. GOD bless each of you.
