Elaine Clapp Obituary

Elaine Kathryn Clapp

May 17, 1964 - October 6, 2024

May 17, 1964 October 6, 2024. Elaine K. Clapp, 60, of Herscher, IL passed away at home on October 6, 2024. She was born on May 17, 1964 to Jim and Joanne Perkins of Cullom, IL. Elaine brought so much light and joy to everyone she encountered. She grew up in close-knit communities and attended Tri Point High School where she shined as a talented musician playing in the band, singing in the choir, and performing in swing choir. These experiences shaped her love of music, which remained a treasured part of her life.

After graduating, Elaine attended Parkland College and later served as a dedicated secretary for the Tri Point High School District. She worked in an array of different fields throughout her career but most recently being at Soil Biotics in Kankakee, IL. She truly loved working there and even more so loved the people she worked with who supported her.

Elaine was a dedicated mother to two daughters, Amanda Jo McWhorter and Emily Jo Clapp. She was very active in their childhood and attended all of their school and extra-curricular events. Elaine adored and dedicated her spare time creating memories as a Nana with her two granddaughters Kayden Elaine McWhorter and Isla Scarlett Freeman. They often loved to cook and bake together, play games, go shopping, eat at Panera and go mini golfing. These girls were the light of her world and they will miss her dearly.

Elaine was an avid sports fan but her true love of sports was being a fan of the Chicago Cubs. Elaine was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, Nana, aunt and friend to many. She was always the first to lend a hand and bring a meal or dessert when someone was in need. Finding new recipes and trying them for others to sample was loved by all. Elaine's warmth, generosity and spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and community.

Elaine is survived by her parents Jim and Joanne Perkins of Cullom, IL; her daughters Amanda McWhorter of Herscher, IL and Emily Clapp of Manteno, IL; two granddaughters Kayden and Isla; her brother Steve (Stacy) Perkins of Herscher, IL and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her many grandparents and sister Ellen Christine Hoffman.

Her family invites friends and loved ones to gather in celebration of her remarkable life, honoring the legacy of love, kindness, and community she leaves behind. A memorial service to celebrate Elaine's life will be held from 4 p.m., until the service at 7 p.m., on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee, IL

Memorials may be made to the families wishes for the future of her grandchildren Kayden and Isla.
