Julie Jannusch Obituary

Julie Jannusch

June 7, 1952 - March 13, 2025

ATLANTA - Julie Gay Jannusch, 72, of Atlanta, Illinois, more recently of Columbia, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, March 13, in Dunedin, Florida, with her adoring sister Kara at her side. A private ceremony will be at Funk's Grove Cemetery.

Julie was born June 7, 1952 in Bloomington, the daughter of Eldon "Eldy" Jannusch and Laurel Lee Funk Jannusch. She was the beloved life partner of David McLane, deceased, and she was a loving step-mother to his daughter, Jessica McLane Shaw. Julie's parents preceded her in death. Also preceding Julie in death were cousin Kathy Jannusch and grandparents Lawrence and Adelle Funk and Hilton and Isabelle Jannusch.

In her youth, Julie worked hard as an avid collector of antiques and a superior gardener. She attended Ben Funk Elementary, University High School, Southern Illinois University, and Illinois State University.

Julie was a strong, caring, intelligent, supportive, generous, thoughtful, and loving person. She was as rare and beautiful as the Pink Moon that appeared on the night she passed away.

Surviving are Julie's siblings Rick (Rey) Jannusch, Shirley, Illinois, Kara Klockenga, Dunedin Florida, Randall (Jill) Jannusch, Clearwater, Florida, step-daughter Jessica Shaw, nieces Andra (Steve) Kuehl, Chesterfield, Missouri, Rachel (Matt) Wiegman, Lake Zurich, Illinois. and nephews Ryan Jannusch (Chanelle Koehn), Columbia, Missouri, Frank "Frankie" Klockenga, Columbia, Missouri, and Nicholas Klockenga (Gracie Schmeltz), Union, Missouri. I dated Julie in 1968. We were together almost every night. I enlisted in the Army and before i left i had told her I wanted to marry her when I got out. I loved her then and even tho we never married I never really stopped caring deeply for her. We went down different roads and it was a long time before i ever saw her again. Not that I didn't want to I just didn't think she wanted to see me. Maybe I was wrong but now I will never know for sure.
Julie, I have never truly stopped loving you and I will always cherish the memories. You will always have a special place in my heart.
Until we meet again. Love you!
