EUREKA - Richard D. Ridle, 82, of Eureka, passed away on October 21, 2023, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.

He was born to Verwin D. and Frances Efnor Ridle on January 14, 1941, at Graham Hospital in Canton, who preceded him in death. He married Vickie C. Hernan of Pekin on March 21, 1969, (which was the anniversary of both their parents), at Pekin First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie; his brother, Robert A. (Janet) Ridle of Oklahoma City.

Dick graduated from Canton High School in 1959, and Murray State University in 1966. He retired from Caterpillar in 2001, with 27 years of service. He served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968, serving 13 months in South Korea during the Vietnam era.

He was a member of Pekin First United Methodist Church and attended the Eureka United Methodist Church after they moved to Eureka in 1988. He found special joy in his pets, street rodding, and American Victorian antiques.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Eureka United Methodist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Reverends Paul Weir and Bob Herath will offi ciate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the TAPS Animal Shelter located at 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
