Violet Jane "Vi" Heinz
March 14, 1928 - May 7, 2024
ROANOKE - Violet Jane "Vi" Heinz, 96, of Roanoke, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
She was born March 14, 1928 in Tripp South Dakota, the second of seven children to William and Lydia Mehlohoff Faller. She married Edward Fischer November 17, 1948. He preceded her in death. She later married Glenn Heinz May 24, 1985. He too, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her four children: Jay (Marianne) Fischer of Bristol TN, Gwen Guingrich (John Hawley) of Spring Branch TX, Cheryl Guingrich (Norm) of Baxter MN, Jeff Fischer of Peoria IL; one stepson, Bob Heinz of Nampa ID; four grandchildren: Matt Guingrich of Sioux Falls, SD, Eric (Amanda) Fischer of Medford OR, Molly Guingrich of Minneapolis MN, and Greg Fischer of Las Vegas NV; and one great-granddaughter, Hadley Violet Fischer of Medford, OR.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Mike Fischer, (Carol) of Medford, OR.
Vi enjoyed being around people. She retired from Hallmark Fixture operation in Metamora.
She volunteered for 32 years at Unity Point & Heart of Illinois Harvest. She picked up food from various locations and delivered it to South Side Mission.
The family wishes to thank all of the staff at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke for their excellent care of Vi and thank Transition Care for compassionate care during her final days.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. Visitation was held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial was in the Roanoke Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home, 1102 W. Randolph St. Roanoke, IL, 61561; or Heart of Illinois Harvest, PO Box 9702 Peoria, IL, 61615.
