Barry Louis Smidt, 82, of Conroe was born July 18, 1929 in Dewitt, Texas and lost his battle with cancer on December 30, 2011. Barry was a graduate of St. Thomas High School in 1948. He loved fishing, dove hunting, and being around his family. He enjoyed his 35 years as a Southwestern Bell Telephone Company employee, especially his time as a PBX repairman. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, his wife of 32 years Aggie Smidt, his wife of 20 years, Joyce Hutton Smidt, his son Larry Smidt, his stepsons Curtis and Harold Hutton. He is survived by his children, Anita Stepp (Malcolm), Barry Smidt, Jr. (Helen), Joan Lister (Thomas), Sharon Miller (Wayne), Karen Smith (Martin), Julie Strayer (Stewart), Gary Smidt (Mona), Amy McFall (Joe); stepchildren, Kenny Hutton (Diane), Howard Hutton (Jackie), Sherry Rollins (Grover), David Hutton (Carolyn); 26 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude's or a charity of your choice. Interment was held at Forest Park Lawndale.
