Samuel Robert "Bob" Vaughn, 77, of Deer Park, TX passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018. Bob was born on September 30, 1941, to Samuel and Iva Vaughn in Houston, TX. He graduated from Alvin High School in 1959 and Sam Houston State University in 1963. Bob married Judy Holdredge on August 16, 1963. Bob and Judy settled in Deer Park in 1967. He served as Deer Park ISD's Newspaper and Yearbook Advisor, News and Information Consultant and managed the print shop. After Bob retired in 1994, he and Judy bought and managed a Hallmark store for the next 12 years.
Bob was a humble servant of Jesus Christ with Deer Park United Methodist Church and the Twigbender Sunday school class for 51 years. He loved to help with the Fall Festival as the organizer of the garage sales and silent auctions and filled many different leadership roles throughout the church. He and his wife Judy traveled as the cook team on several youth mission trips throughout the U.S.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Kathryn Maddox, Helena Thomas, Dolores Clark, and Bud Vaughn along with one niece, Carol Clark.
Bob is survived by his wife Judy, son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Kissa Vaughn, and daughter, Diane Thomas. He is also survived by grandchildren, Hamilton Vaughn, Madison Vaughn, Ryan Tavitas, Randa Tavitas, her fiance Justin Castine and his son Zachary. Bob's legacy also extends to nieces Connie Hupe, Cathy Tower, and loved ones too numerous to name.
Bob felt called into the field of teaching hoping to make a difference in students' lives. He enjoyed and nurtured the relationships he built with each student far past graduation. Bob exemplified a generous and giving spirit and was a living example for his family, his students and co-workers.

I feel blessed to have known Mr. Vaughn during my high school years in DP. He was such a character with a wonderful sense of humor. Mr. Vaughn added flavor to our high school experience and insisted on high quality in our yearbook activities. I will never forget one of his common declarations - "It's NOT an annual, it's a YEARBOOK!" Again, I am thankful that he was part of our HS experience. My condolences to the Vaughn family.
