Lela Virginia Bruce, 87, of Pasadena, Texas, went home to Heaven on December 12, 2017. She was born in Keechi, Texas, on October 15, 1930, to James T. and Zana V. McDonald. She was married to J.D. Bruce for 62 years. Lela worked alongside her husband, J.D., at his State Farm Insurance agency for many years. She attended, and served the Lord faithfully, Fairmont Central Baptist Church, in Pasadena. She was devoted to her family, and loved to care for them through cooking and simply spending time with them.
Lela was preceded in death by her husband J.D., her parents, brother J.T. McDonald, Jr., and sister Ida Pearl Fullen. She is survived by her daughter Zana Thompson and husband Ray of Pasadena, her son Randy Bruce and wife Susan of College Station, grandchildren Kellie Cooper and husband Randall, Melissa Weber and husband James, Tracie Frederick and husband Troy, Jennifer Bruce, Stephanie Taylor and husband Jason, Melanie Whitman and husband Colby, Dan Thompson, Kirk Thompson and wife Sheryl, Cory Thompson and wife Andrea, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives.
The family received friends on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm in the Chapel of First Baptist Church-Pasadena, 7500 Fairmont Pkwy, Pasadena, TX 77505. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00pm. Interment at Grand View Memorial Park.
