Cecelia June (Moore) Daniel, most recently of Kerrville, Texas, and Dillon, Colorado, passed away on September 6, 2013 in Kerrville. She was born in Lueders, Texas, to John Alex and Ouida Mozelle Moore on November 14, 1927. She married the love of her life, James Harrold Daniel, on September 16, 1948, in Grapevine, Texas.
June attended school in Grapevine, Texas, and graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton (now TWU), earning a Bachelor of Arts in Costume Design and Fashion Illustration, and was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi. June later earned her Masters of Education degree from the University of Houston. She was a devoted educator, teaching in Aransas Pass ISD, Pasadena ISD (35 years), and finished her teaching career in Italy ISD as a special education teacher. She was a past President of Pasadena Teachers Association, and served as delegate to several NEA National Conventions.
June is survived by James Harrold Daniel, her loving husband, best friend, and constant companion of 65 years. She is also survived by her children Danna and Charles Bonds, Connie and Lauro Montalvo, Jr., Jay and Cynthia Daniel, Marc and Carrie McLarty Daniel, Ladd and Lezlie Daniel, and Julie and Don Nordin, her sister Olga Baker and husband Darryl, brother Jerry Moore and wife Linda, grandchildren Ian Bonds and wife Amanda, Dresden Kavanaugh and husband Wayne, Tres Montalvo, Jessie Daniel, Adelaide Daniel, Ben Daniel, Zach Daniel, Annabelle Daniel, and Sophie Daniel, Fischer Nordin, and Savannah Nordin, and great-grandchildren Batten, Hayden, and Carson Bonds, and Cooper, Fiona, and Spencer Kavanaugh. She is also survived by dear friends Carl and Ann Schomberg, and Herb and Earline Buchholz.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, with J. Geoffrey Knight of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Houston, officiating. Viewing will be from 9:00 am to 11:30 am on Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Private burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.
The family of Mrs. Daniel wishes to extend sincerest thanks to the staff at River Hills Rehabilitation and the staff of Peterson Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Texas Democratic Party in her memory.
