With loved ones gathered at his bedside, Charles K. Hebert peacefully joined his savior, the Lord Jesus Christ on January 25, 2013. He leaves behind a wife of 57 years, three children, countless friends and an enduring example of the exceptional nature of common goodness.
Born in Colfax, Louisiana, Charles spent his adult life living in various spots throughout the Houston area, graduating from Klein High School in 1950. His soul mate wouldn't arrive to the Klein graduation stage for another five years, so highlights during that period of his life were focused on more casual and carefree items, such as inclusion on Klein High School's very first football team and selection as "Most Handsome" for his Senior class.
Deeply committed to his country throughout his 81 years, Charles served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, returning from overseas in 1954 and settling down with a good job and an amazing wife.
Patsy Starnes and Charles Hebert were married in a simple courthouse ceremony on August 26, 1955. Over the years that followed, the "little wedding" that cost almost 45 dollars would result in almost six decades of marriage, four devoted children and a collection of memories that will be shared for generations.
Many of those memories involve Charles participating in the sports he loved, playing in fastpitch softball leagues, coaching his children's Little League baseball teams and upon his retirement in Coldspring, participating at a championship level in field trial competitions with his ever-present Beagles.
His last days brought him to the Kemah area, where he was visited regularly by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In more than eight decades of life, Charles maintained steadfast conviction in three areas: country, family and faith. His country provided him with a sense of pride, his family a sense of purpose. His faith now provides an eternal home.
Charles is preceded in death by his beloved daughter Phyllis, brother Milton and sisters Dottie and Betty. He is survived by wife Patsy, daughter Debbie, sons Wayne and David, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Rosewood Funeral Home, 3939 Pasadena Blvd., Pasadena, Tx. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 28th, at Rosewood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Grand View Cemetery, Pasadena, Tx.

I wish had been possible for me to be there. I join you in sorrow, but know he is at peace. I think about all of you often. Myrtis

I am so blessed for being a part of Charles's life. Thank you Charles for being the best paw paw that my grandchildren could have and for the love that you showed to Mandy and the rest of your family and friends. You will be missed. I know that God was glad to welcome his child back home.
