Curtis Wayne Oliphant left this temporary life to begin his eternal life when his battle with cancer ended on Monday, November 7, 2016. Born on December 12, 1946 to Curtis and Dorothy Oliphant, he grew up in Deer Park and attended Deer Park schools, graduating in 1964. Wayne continued his education at the University of Houston and worked as an Energy Trader for Reliant Energy. He would later work in sales with Advantage LED.
He loved the study of God's word, and authored the book, Bible Stories for Grown-Ups. He served as a Chaplin for St. Luke's hospital, was ordained as a minister by the Joshua Generation, volunteered for Prison Ministry and was 1st trumpet player for Lakewood Church under Pastor John Osteen. Being of strong convictions, one never had to wonder where he stood concerning his beliefs. Every conversation was further proof that He loved God, his wife and family, and his country.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Bonnie Oliphant; son, Clint Oliphant and wife, Dawn; daughter, Sarah Reid and husband, Matt. He is also survived by his wife's sons, Ryan LaFleur and wife, Katie; Matthew LaFleur and wife, Paetra; and Robert LaFleur. He leaves behind eight grandchildren: Bruce, Taylor, Ryan, Brooklyn, Avery, Jocelyn, Cole and Finley, as well as three sisters: Susan Williams, Carole Balko, and Loyce Alvarado. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Oliphant. He will be greatly missed, but we take incredible comfort in knowing we will see him again!
