E. W. Carrigan, Jr., MD, 92, passed away September 26, 2011. He was born May 29, 1919 in Society Hill, SC. He attended Clemson University and Tulane University of Louisiana School of Medicine under the Army Specialized Training Program. While in medical school he entered the U.S. Army, where he served and obtained the rank of Captain. He practiced medicine in the Alvin and Pasadena area for 60 years, where he served as Chief of Staff at Pasadena General Hospital. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and sporting events.
He is survived by family and loved ones: daughters, Sharon and Mary Carrigan; grandson, Alex Illyn; son, Shaun Carrigan Lee and wife, Kate; former spouse and caregiver, Debra Lee Carrigan; and long-time friend and colleague, Jenny West.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Wednesday, September 28, at Niday-Fairmont Funeral Home in Pasadena. Dr. Carrigan will be laid to rest in his hometown at Welsh Neck Baptist Cemetery in Society Hill, SC.
