Jerrold Scott Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Jerrold "Jerry" Glenn Scott, 68, on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.

Jerry was born February 12, 1952, in Houston, Texas to Lucille Frances and John Scott Jr. He was by all accounts a happy, willful baby. Jerry graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1970.

While most men in their early 20's are out having fun, Dad was raising two daughters as a single father until perfect timing and tickets to a Ronnie Milsap concert reconnected him with a childhood friend, our Mom, Gloria. He loved her for more than 40 years, and they would have celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on March 29th. He raised three daughters and one son while working full time at Farmer Brothers, although the company changed names several times over the years. Jerry was a loyal employee for 44 years until his retirement in July of 2019.

Our dad had many hobbies through the years, everything from Weight Lifting to Golf to Hunting. However, he seemed to have found his calling in Bar-B-Que and would most certainly bend your ear bragging about his 1st place chicken - although he would not share the "secret" chicken rub recipe with you. He made lifelong friends, loved being with his family, and loved to sing along to his favorite songs and would happily share this with anyone who was around. He had a great smile, a great laugh, and beautiful eyes that would light up when he talked about his children and grandchildren.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Frances and John Scott, Jr. He is survived by his brother John F. Scott, his loving and devoted wife Gloria Scott, his daughters Melissa Hendricks and husband Mark, Azaliah Knapek and husband Brian, Alecia Brinson, and his son Matthew Scott and wife Jennifer, granddaughter Nicole Scott and many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members who loved and adored him.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
