Joseph Clyde Smith was born March 10, 1938 in Greenville, South Carolina, and passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012, in Pasadena, Texas. He had a successful and innovative career in the automotive engine rebuilding industry for over 40 years. He had a vibrant personality and was well known for his exotic cowboy boots. He enjoyed playing poker and gambling with his friends. He was a car enthusiast who spent most Saturday mornings expertly cleaning and detailing his cars. He helped many attain and maintain sobriety over the years. He leaves to cherish his memories: son, Joseph C. Smith, Jr. and wife Dorothy, son, James H. Smith and wife Bernadette, son, Charles F. Smith, daughter, Ellen S. Gillaspie and husband Dwayne, daughter, Margaret F. Bennett and granddaughters, Julie, Emily and Kristen Smith. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the 24 Hour Club, 126 Forest Hill Boulevard, Houston, Texas, 77011.

There will always be a small little void within me. Joe was that kind of friend, now forever missed, but better for having known him. My heart will often remember Joe and his family with soft and warm feelings.
