Mary Davis Pack passed away peacefully on September 18, 2017. She was born on June 28, 1928 in Houston, Texas to Dudley Davis and Margaret Blackwell Davis. She grew up in Houston and attended San Jacinto High School and Rice University, where she was a member of the Pallas Athena Literary Society and where she met her husband of 68 years, Charles Fallon Pack.
Mary was a longtime resident of Pasadena, Texas where she taught for many years in the Pasadena Independent School District. She was an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and an avid reader and gardener. She was extremely civic-minded and worked hard for numerous community efforts over the years, including air and water quality improvement, city recycling, and library and education enhancements. She never hesitated to speak out for causes she believed in and attended countless city council, school board, and community meetings. She was an early supporter of the Armand Bayou Nature Preserve in Pasadena, the largest urban wilderness preserve in the country.
Mary is survived by her husband Charles Fallon Pack and sister-in-law Margaret C. Pack; three daughters, Mary Margaret Pack (Robert Mendoza), Catherine Pack Lien (Kenneth Lien), Martha Pack Burnett (Velon Burnett); two granddaughters, Megan Doherty (Nicholas Doherty) and Emily Burnett (Cornelius Miller), and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held for Mary at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 705 Williams St, Pasadena on Saturday September 23 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a favorite charity or to the community outreach programs at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

So sad to hear. I've often wondered about Mrs. Pack. She was both my neighbor and my teacher growing up. I used to talk to her when I was riding my bike, she was always so kind to me. She touched so many lives in her many years at PISD and I know her family is proud.

I met Mrs. Pack when she substituted at PHS. She was a delight to work with- always dependable- which is so important when substituting, and ALWAYS had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone- even on the most harried mornings.
