Nathan Thomas Obituary

Nathan Lee Thomas, DC passed away on November 29, 2013 at the age of 86. He was born in Tahoka, Texas on November 6, 1927 to Nathan Guy Thomas and Della White Thomas. He wed his high-school sweetheart, Dorothy L Williams on February 23, 1945 and remained married to her until his death. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his son Terry N Thomas (wife Laura), daughters Shirley Ann Thomas and Sheila Lee Thomas, grandsons Steven Lee Elliott and Brian Thomas Elliott, and great granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Elliott, all of the Houston area. Dr. Thomas was a cowboy at an early age in South Dakota. He loved working with horses and worked on the ranch of the once famous Casey Tibbs. In 1956, he moved his family to Lubbock, Texas where he worked in the chemical fertilizer business, insurance business, and was a milkman for Bell Dairy. In 1965, he decided to come to Texas Chiropractic College to study Chiropractic. He graduated in 1971 with a degree in Chiropractic and practiced in Pasadena, Texas until his retirement. He was a devout Christian man who loved his family to the upmost. An avid gardner, he grew the most fragrant and beautiful roses. He loved his many dogs throughout his lifetime and working in his yard. He had many pairs of cowboy boots custom-designed by his friend, Rocky Carroll. Because of his love of others, he donated his body to medical science at the University of Texas. In the words of the poet, Robert Test - "Let the death bed be called the 'Bed of Life' so that the body taken from it may be used to help future generations lead more pain-free and productive lives. If you must bury or burn something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses, and all my prejudices against my fellow man." A special thank you to the staff and nurses at Pasadena Care who took care of Nathan these past four years. He will be missed by all who loved him and shared his life... "see you in Heaven Daddy, riding on a beautiful steed."
