Patsy Ruth Dancey, 87, transitioned to Heaven on June 9, 2014. She was born in Drumright, Oklahoma, on August 10, 1926 to H.V. and Lena B. Miller. Pat lived in Oklahoma 27 years before moving to Texas with her husband and their five children in 1953.
Many individuals attending Deep Water Elementary in the 50's and 60's will share fond memories of Ms. Dancey through her service as a policewoman for 14 years with the Pasadena Police Department. Perhaps not so fond memories for those ticketed for speeding or running a stop sign in her school zone. However, Pat (the nice lady) will be remembered by many for her dedication to the safety of all her "children".
In 1971 Pat received a scholarship to study nursing at Lee College in Baytown, TX. Her dream of teaching or nursing became a reality as she worked in the nursing profession until her retirement in 1986. Pat is preceded in death by her eldest son, Ronald Dean; both parents; sisters, Thelma and Maxine. She is survived by L.F. Dancey (Blackie), her husband of 73 years; children, Tommy and daughter-in-law Karen, Cheryl Manning, Carol and Gary Dancey; four dear grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and wonderful nieces and nephews. At Pat's request a Memorial Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014, anytime between 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Parkwood Methodist Church, 400 Parkwood Dr., Pasadena, TX (Deepwater) to celebrate her memory with fellowship and food for family and friends. Her family misses her and will enjoy sharing memories with others that knew her. The family would like to share their absolute gratitude to the staff at Waterford Retirement Facility for their kindness and care the past three years and for the friendships of many of the residences. Special gratitude for mom's adopted granddaughter, Brittany and Nurse Carol. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations made to a charity of choice. Online memorial tributes may be placed at

Gary, I love this picture. After her morning duty as school guard was over, just about every day she'd go to our house to have "Crispy Toast" (as they called it) and coffee. My mom is out of town but I sent a message to her. She will be saddened as we all are. Love to you and all of your family.

Carol - so sorry for your loss. I remember your mom as a wonderful hostess when we stayed there. I also remember that she loved to sing and play Dean Martin (or someone from his time) when she cleaned house!! I know she will be missed.
