Rose was born on 2/3/1931 in Rila Bulgaria. Her family moved to Sofia in 1934. She began her education in Sofia studying Bulgarian, German and English languages. She transferred to Aachen Germany, Fruedenstat Germany, Reichenau Germany and on to Fuessen Bavaria. She completed her general education in Heidelberg Germany and continued on with medical training as a nurse.
She met her husband William (Bill) F. Shultz in early 1954. Bill had immigrated to America in 1952 working in machine shops along the Houston ship channel. He returned to Wiesbaden Germany with the US Army as a translator and liaison between the Army and the German population. They were married on May 14, 1954. January 1955 found them headed to America on a troop ship.
They settled in Pasadena where they have remained as proud US citizens for the past 50 years.
Bill work at Ethel for 31 years while Rose was able to devote her time to their 2 children, William F. Jr (1955) and Diane J. (1958).
Preceded in death were her father (1934), her mother was lost during an air raid over Stuttgart (1945), son William F. Jr. (2010) and brother Ludwig (2013).
Surviving family are William F. Shultz Sr.(husband), Diane J. Arbogast (daughter), Jon Arbogast (son-in-law), Debbie D. Shultz (daughter-in-law), Steven R. Shultz (grandson) & wife Nicole, David G. Shultz (grandson) & wife Kirsti, Connie Vilt-Daby (niece) Tony Vilt (nephew) and Gabriela Stetter-Schumacher (niece).
Rose passed quietly on Thursday January 1st 2015 at 6:55am with her husband at her side.
There will be a memorial gathering on Sunday February 1, 2015 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at their residence; 2508 Leslie Street, Pasadena, TX 77502.
Please, in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to MD Anderson for adrenal cancer research in remembrance of William F. Shultz Jr. and Rose Shultz.
