Sue Work Obituary

Sue McGee Work, age 78 of Pasadena, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 9, 2021. She was born to the late Harvey and Essie McGee on November 13, 1942. She was preceded in death by her husband James Work and her brother Max McGee.

Sue's love of teaching began in elementary in New Boston, Texas. In fourth grade, she was teaching a kindergartener to tie his shoes. When she finished, he looked up at her with wide eyes and said "Thank you, teacher". After her fifth grade year, she moved to the Richmond/Rosenburg area with her family. In her sophomore year, she took a Spanish class to be able to go on a trip to Mexico. The outcome of that year was unexpected.

Sue went on to earn a private scholarship that opened the door for her to attend a full four years of college. Sue graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1967. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an international education honor fraternity. It was September of 1967 when she began a 39-year teaching career in Deer Park, Texas.

She married her late husband James Work in June 1967. Together they had 3 children. She enjoyed going to the theater with her friends, as well as camping and fishing. Sue loved her family fiercely and will be deeply missed.

Sue is survived by her children Troy Work and his wife Christy, Kevin Work and his wife Kim, Marisa Royal and her husband Rodney; her grandchildren Michelle, Addison, Maxwell, Blaine, Anden and Tyler; as well as a number of loving relatives and close friends.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Deer Park Baptist Church, 438 E 8th Street, Deer Park, Texas, 77536.
