Thomas Dwyer Obituary

LTC(R) Thomas (Tom) Dwyer, 91, of Conroe passed away on December 24, 2020 joining his beloved wife, Barbara.

Tom was born in Marion, Ohio on July 30, 1929. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps at the close of World War II, eventually earning a coveted pilot training slot. It was during this time that friends set him up on a blind date with the love of his life and wife, Barbara. Tom left the military and attended Lamar University earning an Engineering degree. Soon after graduation, he joined the newly established U.S. Air Force, continuing his life long love of flying. Tom retired from the Air Force in 1974 after serving in both Korea and Vietnam. After a successful career as a mechanical engineer and consultant, Tom retired a second time in 1995. He continued his passion for flying throughout his life owning several airplanes and gliders, instructing many new pilots and building and flying radio controlled models.

Tom is survived by his daughters Debbie DeOre and Jody Stephenson, his sons-in-law James DeOre and John Stephenson, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A private memorial service for the family was held on January 28.
