Graveside services for Walter Ray Cox, Sr., 86, of Pasadena, Texas, was held on Friday, November 16, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Sardis Cemetery in Jewett, Texas. Arrangements were under the direction of Rick-Bowers Funeral Home, 814 Main Street, Jewett, Texas 75860.
There was no visitation.
Mr. Cox went to his heavenly home on Monday, November 12, 2018, surrounded by family.
Walter was born on April 15, 1932, in Jacksonville, Texas, to parents Walter Copeland Cox and Maxine Hodges Cox. His sister Dorothy and he spent their younger years living in Linden, Texas. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to everyone who knew him.
Walter is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Beth Cox; his son Walter Ray Cox, Jr.; two daughters, Cheri Fulton, and Marcie McLamore & husband Dane; two step-daughters, Melissa St. John, and Natalie Herrera & husband Randy; one niece, Heather Alexander & husband Charles; thirteen grandchildren, Stephanie Price & husband Justin, Amber Perrard & husband Thomas, Justin Fink, Ryan Herrera & wife Dana, Michael Cox, Randi-Leigh Pipes & husband Eric, Lauren Carbonel & husband Casey, Zach McLamore, Jordan Thomas & husband Reed, Jason Cox, Jessica St. John, Gunner Herrera, and Nathan Herrera & fiancee Ashley Goode; eleven great-grandchildren, Tory Perrard, Peyton Perrard, Eiley Price, Neil Price, Madison Howard, Braden Herrera, Safia Herrera, Beau Thomas, Braxton Herrera-Sigg, Andrew Pipes, Alex Pipes & Blakey Ryan Herrera.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Copeland Cox and Maxine Hodges Cox; one sister, Dorothy Ezell; one daughter, Caryn Bolton; and one step-daughter Rhonda Cavanaugh.
