William Richard Phillips entered the gates of Heaven to join our Heavenly Father on August 16, 2014. Funeral services officiated by Dr. Jon Redmond and Dr. Charles Redmond on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Pasadena, with visitation at 2 p.m.
William was born in South Houston, Texas on March 9, 1928 to Joseph and Nellie Mae Phillips. William "Bill" is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joe Ann Phillips, his brother Leon Phillips, and sister Lynda Faye Phillips
After attending Pasadena High School, Bill enlisted in the Air Force, where he served our country for over four years. Bill retired from Sinclair refinery after working there for eighteen years. Bill took up woodcarving, once he retired and won several awards for his skills. Bill enjoyed working in his yard and attending to his flowers. Bill and Cordelia "Cordy" were known as world travelers. They enjoyed taking cruises, and would take frequent trips all over the world. Bill and Cordy loved every destination they visited.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Cordelia Phillips, sister Beth Dickerson; sons, Michael Phillips and wife Elma; Timothy Phillips and wife Carla, daughter Patti Roberts and husband Demetrius, step-son Dale Lee Beightol, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a very special friend, who Bill considered his adopted daughter, Mary Cole and her family.
The Phillips family would like to give a special thanks to all of the caregivers who cared for Bill during the last few months that he was ill. He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William's name to First Baptist Church of Pasadena.

Bill and Cordy were great cruise companions. We enjoyed two wonderful cruises with them and I'm not sure Royal Caribbean Cruise Line ever recovered from our antics. We will keep those fond memories close to our hearts. Sending love and hugs. Jill and David
