To the McConaghy family,
I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Just the other day, I saw a bread truck on Central Avenue, and thought of Jim. I had not seen him in awhile. I first met Jim while working in the stores that he delivered to. We ran many a mile together on the roads. May he Rest in Peace.

Nancy, Scott, Lauren, and all family and friends. It was a pleasure speaking about Jimmy today with all of you. I hope this little keep sake of my memories will help you. As this day comes to a close, my thoughts are with the McConaghy family.
As I rose to speak on behalf of myself and my family, I also spoke on behalf of the 1972 Class of Tolman High. I spoke of how we came to be friends some 37 years ago. How Jimmy's Smile and laughter could brighten any room he was in.
I also said to be part of Jimmy's life was to be entwined in his love and true friendship. From sharing a serious conversation to laughing hysterically with Jimmy became a memorable moment. I knew Jimmy would want some good hearted laughter at this time so I told a story of when Jimmy and I played in a golf league and how I would always try and make Jimmy crack up to throw his game off! So on a pretty hot day I placed an errant tee shot into the nearby pond, were as Jimmy placed his on the green. To which he said to me "You know Mike an awful lot of your golf balls are in that pond!" to which I replied, No problem Jim! I promptly dove into to the pond and came out with a decent sized Sun Turtle! Jimmy was bent over in laughter as I placed the Turtle upside down in front of his putting line to block his putt! Needless to say he didn't make the putt! (no harm came to the little guy) This is the memories friends make and share. We had our serious moments in life also. When Jimmy's Dad was in the hospital and knew he was going to pass, I shared a story I had read about a young boy who was terminally ill, who was struggling to stay strong for his Mother. He told his mother of a warm beautiful White light that he wanted to go to. But his Mother begged him not to go. Eventually she realized she was wrong, and she told her Son to go to the light as she held him, and he passed peacefully in her arms. Jimmy told his Dad to go to the light, and he soon passed. We told each other that we would want the same for ourselves if that day came. That day came, and Nancy passed those words to Jimmy for me. He told her he remembered that's where Heaven is!
And that is where Jimmy is now.
God Bless You Jimmy

Nancy, Scott, Lauren,

Jimmy will be greatly missed, and we are so sorry for your loss. I can't remember one time when Jimmy didn't have a smile on his face. One couldn't ask for a more sincere and kind neighbor. I also can't count how many times he came outside when I was mowing my mother's lawn and would take the trouble to move his bread truck just to make it easier for me to get around the bushes. He was a selfless person who would take the time to ask how you were doing even if it wasn't a very convenient time for him to converse.

Jim was a dear friend and true inspiration to anyone who was lucky enough to meet him. He lived his life to the fullest and had fun while he was doing it. Pickleball will never be the same without hearing Jim's awesome laugh or "the Bickersons" going back and forth. Jim will be forever missed

My times with Jim were few and casual, but he made a big enough impression upon me to know that he cared and it wasn't faked or forced just to be polite or in passing. He never hesitated to greet you and make you feel important even when so much time had gone by. I'm so glad that he did have some time to do what he wanted after he was diagnosed. He was an authentic gentleman and he will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him even briefly. He was the kind of guy that you wanted to know and could never forget I'm blessed to have known him!

Dear Nancy, Lauren, Scott and to all of Jimmy's family....
There are no words to console you at this time; there are no answers to your question "why"...but there is much love and support all around when you can't move forward. Jimmy was a great person. There is no doubt his loss has touched many and it will take time to heal. But I believe he lived his life well, he loved with all his heart, he gave of himself and he will always be right beside you. So when you hug yourselves, when you're all alone and hurting, it will be his arms gently hugging you and watching over you.
You are all in my prayers.
RIP Jim.
