Norman Mittica Obituary

Norman "Ted" Mittica

Norman "Ted" Mittica, 87, of Pearland, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025. Born on May 27, 1938, in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, Ted lived a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family and community.

Ted proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Major. During his military career, he completed two tours in Vietnam and later relocated to Houston, Texas, where he served as an ROTC instructor at the University of Houston until his retirement from the Army.

Following his military service, Ted began a second career with Houston Lighting and Power, where he worked for 20 years before retiring. Never one to remain idle, he spent his retirement years giving back to the community he loved. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Pearland Citizens Police Academy and Pearland Parks and Recreation for many years.

Ted was known for his love of woodworking, hosting garage sales, and most of all, being a proud and constant presence at his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events and school programs.

He is preceded in death by his beloved son and is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, three loving daughters and their husbands, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy of strength, generosity, and service.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Ted will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

I will miss you. You were a great brother and always remembered to call me on my birthday and holidays. I will miss talking with you. We always had a great time when together. I cherish the memories and smile when I think you.

I always looked up to uncle Ted. He was a true American hero and I will always cherish the memories with him and his family. We didn´t get to see each other often but always enjoyed the times we had together.
