Habeebah Shimah Cue

It is with profound sorrow we announce the passing of Ms. Habeebah Shimah Cue, 75, of Cheraw, who transitioned on Friday, June 27, 2025. Ms. Habeebah Cue, formerly known as Helen Wright, was born in Florence, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of James Wright and Daaiyah Mahammad (formerly Ruth Wright). She peacefully departed this life at McLeod Hospice House after an illness. Habeebah was educated in the public schools of Florence County and was a proud graduate of Wilson High School. Her life journey included a first marriage to the late Robert Rushdan of Effingham, SC, with whom she had five children. She later married the late Walter James Cue of Cheraw, SC, with whom she shared a loving and devoted partnership. She was preceded in death by her brothers Malik Mahammad (formerly James Wright of NJ), Emmanuel "Bobby" Wright, Ricky Wright, and her sister Hortense Smoot, all of Florence, SC. Habeebah's life was centered around love for family and her faith. She was a gifted homemaker and seamstress whose hands created beauty and comfort in everything she touched. She leaves behind five children: Fareedah Rushdan (Florence, SC), Rasheed (Samantha) Rushdan (Cheraw, SC), Afeefah (Edward) Rushdan-Louis (Stafford, VA), Hakim (Genesis) Rushdan (Cheraw, SC), and Robert Ibn Rushdan (Lake Wylie, SC). She also lovingly embraced two stepchildren: Trisha Ann Cue and Eugene "Darren" Cue, both of Cheraw, SC. Ms. Cue was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and is survived by her sister Amirah (Marc) Daniels of Florence, SC. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends to cherish her memory. Her spirit, strength, and warmth will remain with all who knew her.
