Soldotna resident Keith R. Karsten, 75, passed away Thursday, Apr. 10, 2025, at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna.

Keith was born May 26, 1949, in Terry, Mont.  He moved to Alaska and graduated from Kenai Central High School.

Keith served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Dupont. He also took electronics courses and was honorably discharged in 1974.

"He really loved Alaska and truly loved his family, especially playing baseball with his grandchildren. Kathy and Keith came to Alaska in 1977, where he showed and taught her everything, as she came from Boston. Keith lives on in his 2 great sons, Troy and Trevor. We cannot explain how we ache for him…..See you again soon Keith."

Keith was preceded in death by his brother, Kurt Karsten.

I went to school with Keith in the early days of Soldotna. Fished in the big eddy near his house. Just good memories.

I´m so sorry to hear about Keith passing! I worked with Keith for several years at Hutchings Chevrolet, and really enjoyed working with him. He had an infectious laugh and a great sense of humor to go along with it. Worked with Curt also, the two of them together what is twice the fun! Wonderful men, whom I will share us the memories that I have of them both!

Keith was a kind and good natured man. I had his son, Troy, in my 5th Grade. Kathy and Keith were always very supportive of an excellent education for their children. Keith was always funny and nice at our Soldotna Dog Park. He loved their dog, Angel. Keith will be in my Morning Prayers Forever!!
