Ruby Taylor Obituary

Longtime Alaskan and Soldotna resident Ruby Taylor, 96, entered into her heavenly rest on 7/24/25 at a private Assisted Living Home in Wasilla, Alaska with her loving caregiver by her side. Ruby was born in Hardin, Missouri and lived in Missouri until moving to California in 1949. She met and married Andy Taylor in 1945, and out of that marriage they had 4 children. In 1959 they drove the Alcan Highway to Alaska and never looked back. Ruby was a hard worker. Always worked a full time job while raising her 4 children. She worked various waitress jobs in her younger years. While in California she worked at Gasket Manufacturing, and then in Alaska at Northern Consolidated Airlines. She was a long time member of the VFW 10046 Auxiliary in Soldotna, where she was elected President four terms. Ruby enjoyed crossword puzzles, ceramics, embroidery, and most of all her numerous trips to Las Vegas with her girls to play the slot machines.

Ruby was predeceased by her husband Andy Taylor, 4 brothers, and her parents. She is survived by her children Sharon (Bill) Taylor of Chugiak, Linda (Jim) McCool of North Dakota/Big Lake, James (Sandy) Taylor of Kasilof, and Patty (Rick) Cook of Eagle River. Also, 4 grand children and 5 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and friends she made at the VFW.
