Madeleine Wells Cox

Virginia Beach - Madeleine Wells Cox died peacefully with her family present on November 9, 2017 at Brookdale Senior Living Center on Diamond Springs Road. She was born in Cass County Texas to the late Livy Wells and Lilybel Rogers Wells. Madeleine was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, William (Bill) L. Cox and five of her siblings. She is survived by her brother, William R. Wells, her two daughters, Patricia Cox Conrad (Daniel) and Debra Cox Gray (Philip), three grandchildren William Scott Conrad, MD (Whitney), Philip Bradford Gray, and Sarah Elizabeth Gray, and three great grandchildren (Will, Spencer and Clay Conrad).

Madeleine was an active member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church and the Agape Sunday School class for over 50 years, and during the 60 years that Madeleine and Bill lived in Chesopeian Colony, Madeleine participated in the garden club, holding a variety of administrative and officer positions.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held at United Methodist Church, 212 19th Street, Virginia Beach on Thursday, November 16th, 2017 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brookdale staff Christmas fund (937 Diamond Springs Road, Virginia Beach, 23455) in appreciation for their devotion and care for Madeleine during the last years of her life.
