Martha Brickhouse Obituary

Martha A. Brickhouse CHESAPEAKE - Martha Ann Cartwright Brickhouse, 76, died Sunday, March 14, 2010. She was born in old Princess Anne County to the late William Raleigh and Stella Baum Cartwright. Mrs. Brickhouse was a member of CAVA Freewill Baptist Church and a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family, sewing and knitting. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Brickhouse Jr. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Diane Marie Burgess of Elizabeth City, Martha "Suzie" Darden for Suffolk, Kathleen B. Pugh and husband Leon of Moyock and Karen Faye Brickhouse of Chesapeake; son, Willis "Budd" Brickhouse and wife Nichole of Seymour, Tenn.; sisters, Margaret Henderson of Florida and Judy Cartwright of Virginia Beach; brothers, William Cartwright Jr. of West Virginia, Willis David Cartwright Minnesota, Roy Cartwright of Florida and James Cartwright of Georgia; grandchildren, Linda Cox, Donald Darden Jr., Danielle Pugh and Sadie Brickhouse; great-grandchild, Jonathan Cox; stepgrandchildren, Keria Tipton and Darren Beaty; and great-step grandchildren, Kayden Tipton and Jasmine Beaty; faithful companions, Clara and Smokey; and host of other family and friends. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jeremy Effler officiating. The family will receive friends at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Twiford Chapel, Tuesday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.altmeyer.com.
