Travis Carter Obituary

Travis Hunter Carter CHESAPEAKE - Travis Carter, 18, went home to our Lord and Savior Sept. 18, 2011, after a six-year battle with scleroderma. Born in Chesapeake to Hunter and Elizabeth Harvey Carter, he graduated from Oscar Smith High School and enjoyed riding dirt bikes, snow boarding, surfing and billiards. Travis's caring, generous spirit and adventurous heart touched all of his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are: his parents, Hunter and Beth; his siblings, Darby, Patrick and Nathan; his grandparents, Carol, Bob, and Sally; his uncles, aunts, and cousins; and many relatives who all love him like a son and brother. A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.srfcure.org. Express condolences at www.altmeyer.com.

Carter family, Travis will be sorely missed. I am grateful to have met him. My children (Tyler and Justine Stout) both considered your son to be family and have many memories that they will indeed cherish for the rest of their lives.. I know that when I think of Travis, I will always smile There are no words to express how sorry I am for the loss of such a great kid. Travis will be missed by many.

Dear Travis ,
Your were one of thee nicest people I have met . NO you were NOT prefect . YES you did some wrong things . BUT NO MATTERRR what you were going through you always found a way to make me smile . & I thank you for that . I think this is really hitting me hard because I just talked to you Saturday morning. & Sunday night I find out your gone . You always told me how pretty I was & that you were going to take away from Lamont . You were my white boyfriend . & you called me your chocolate girlfriend . Man I am really going to miss you . I’m not saying bye , im just going to say see you later . Look down on all of us & protect us. You are missed by so many already its sad . Mrs.Larossa said she is going to miss you she cried in class. You meant so much to so many of us . I love you & you will always be in my heart . You are one of my angels now . I’m trusting you like ive always have .

Love always , your chocolate girlfriend

Travis, friday is your day buddy. You have so many people that love you and are coming to see you. When I heard the news I thought it couldn't have been real. Seeing your obituary makes it that much more of a reality. I know you're resting easy up there, i wish nothing more that i could hear your voice again. I will always remember you as a kind soul with a big heart. Love, Korie.
- see you in heaven.

Hunter and Beth, I am so sorry that you have had such a loss I know that I had not seen Travis but a couple times but this past Easter when he came with John and Stephen to Church he was so proud to be Sally and Elwood's grandson and be once again at the Church that honored them with naming the Fellowship Hall after them. I can tell you that he was every bit the Carter you would have wanted him to be.

He was so polite and friendly with those that spoke to him each person that spoke to him he gave them his attention and didnt just ignore their comments about his family. I am sure that was how he acted all the time Proud, Friendly and Polite.

He was a fine young Man and I am sure will be dearly missed by so many friends.

Travis, You were such a fine young man. I really enjoyed having you as my student in English 11 and I will never forget all of our conversations last year. You were such a bright spot in this world, and now you really are a shining star. Ms. LaRossa

Dear Carter Family,
I was shocked by Travis' passing. I wanted you to know how much I enjoyed him in my 8th grade English class. He was a great student, and was one of the few that was prepared for class and conscientious about his academics. I saw him several times after he went to high school and enjoyed watching him grow into a young man. You have every reason to be proud of him. I'm very grateful to have known him and contributed to his education. May God bless all of you and help you through this difficult time!

I am very sorry for the loss of your son, brother. I hope that these words will lift your spirits some. "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
