Praying that God surrounds you all during this difficult time. Miss Monteith, as I knew her, was my 1st grade teacher during her 2nd year of teaching. And, yes, she was my Favorite! You could tell that she loved her job and loved all of "her kids". We shared a love of horses and talked about them all the time. I would visit her from time to time as an adult...and was always greeted with a big hug. Her legacy will live on through all the lives she touched! Rest in peace Mrs. Wainwright.
Until we meet again...

I remember Alice and George when they visited our farm on a lake in central Wisconsin. The first time I met her, Alice was just a young woman fresh out of college in her 20's, always laughing with her George. I kept track of them through the years via my brother Casey. My sincerest sympathy at this loss. Strength to you in the days ahead, George and Phoebe and Page. Kelly Aanrud

She was a beautiful person who I loved greatly. I had her for both first and second grade and she really helped me through an incredibly difficult transition in my life from a very rough childhood and personally helped to inspire in me a vision of life being beautiful and worth living. I will miss discussing Tolkien with her!

March 27, 2012

Dear George and girls, I am so sad that she is no longer here.
We all had so much fun and boy did we laugh.
I felt we were the kind of friend's that did not see each other for along time,
but would run into each other and pick right up.
We watched our kids grow together, we would get together and have some beers, {tequila} was usually brought in.Oh boy was that a hoot.
My heart is hurting for all of you. I have lost a good friend.
I tried to get together, but it just did not work out.
If any of you need anything, please call us.
Alice I am going to have a shot of tequila tonight and this one is for you girl!!!!
With much love,
Jim and Donna

To meet a lady like Alice
Was like entering a palace.
Her heart was the door-open wide
Filled with love-just step inside.
Her eyes were windows
Sparkling brightly,
Her passion for teaching,
Was not taken lightly.
Her laugh was hearty
And very contagious,
Her battle with cancer was
Very courageous.
Her arms were like gates
Encircling and protective
Her teaching ideas
Innovative and effective.
Alice's new life
Will never end
So God bless you Alice
'Till we meet again.

So once again I'm very sorry for your loss. Tiffany Murrell( Dokken)

I just heard about Miss Monteith/Mrs Wainwright, I am so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of having her during her first year of teaching. She was a wonderful person and a GREAT teacher. I would come in and visit her when I was home seeing family. The thing I remember most about her is her smile. She was always so happy and so glad to see us kids each and every morning. I wish that there were more teachers out there like her, they could learn a thing or two from her.
