PEORIA - David L. Cooling, 63, of Peoria passed away at 7:56 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
He was born on June 1, 1951, in Green Valley, the son of Ernest and Iola Martin Cooling. He married Cynthia Levi on Oct. 28, 2003, in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; one adopted daughter, Nicole Ramos; one stepson, Chris (Heidi) Zeiler and their children, Cody, Ava and Andrew; and one stepdaughter, Ellen (Steven) Gibson and their children, Shannen, Nate and Matt.
He was preceded in death by one infant granddaughter, Aubrianna Ramos.
He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam conflict before being discharged in 1971.
He worked at Corn Products in Pekin for 11 years. He then moved to Georgia, working for the Georgia Department of Corrections in Macon, last working in 1997.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Private services will be held at a later date.
Memorials in his name may be given to Christian Assembly Church, 521 NE Monroe St., Peoria, IL 61603.
