WEST PEORIA - Douglas B. Joyce, 51, of West Peoria passed away at 12:31 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Ill.
He was born May 3, 1961, in Peoria, Ill., to Benjamin H. and Virginia M. (Grieser) Joyce. He was preceded in death by his mother on Oct. 16, 2012, and his father on Aug. 12, 2006.
Surviving is his brother, Gregory Joyce of West Peoria.
Doug was an easy-going and caring brother and son who took on the challenges of being developmentally disabled with much heart, kindness and appreciation.
He was employed by the Community Workshop and Training Center in Peoria for 29 years, last working in October 2009.
Doug enjoyed working puzzles, watching movies, being outside and could remember the exact date of an event from many years past. His sense of humor and laugh and his friendship will be greatly missed.
Private burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in West Peoria. Schmidt-Haller Burial and Cremation Services in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.

I am sorry to see that your family is dealing with Dougs death. It is always a hard time. I hope there are some good memories to help you through this hard time. One day at a time. Hang in there Greg. Take care.
