PEORIA - Howard L. Walter, age 76, of Peoria passed away Monday, April 10, 2006, at 9:45 a.m. on his property in Fulton County.
Born July 10, 1929, in Peoria to John and Luella (Hazelman) Walter. He married Shirley Hageman on June 17, 1950, in Peoria. She passed away June 1, 1983, in Peoria. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Willard "Bud" Walter.
Survivors include one daughter, Melodee (and Jim) Thorwegen of Beaverton, Ore.; two sons, Ronald Walter of Peoria and Richard (and Cecelia) Walter of Peoria; one grandson, Bill Walter of Peoria; and his longtime companion, Millie Johnson of Peoria.
Howard was a test engineer for Caterpillar Inc. for 45 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a Marine serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Bartonville American Legion Post 979, A.S.T.E. American Society of Test Engineers, Grace Presbyterian Church and Bradley Chiefs Club.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 15, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Rev. Stephen Barch will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
