PEORIA – Ismael Ponce, 67, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Peoria, died at 2:55 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2017, in Austin, Texas.
Ismael was born on December 18, 1949, to Jose G. and Teodora O. (Ortiz) Ponce.
Ismael is survived by his mother, Teodora; his children, Alicia Maria Ponce, Ismael "Marty" Ponce,] and Jacob Ponce; his siblings, Andres Cervantes Jr., Maria L. Currens, Eduardo Ponce, Ernestina Stelmach, Evangelina Albaugh, Rogelio Ponce, Norma Ponce and Ricardo Ponce; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose; his brother, Esteban G. Ponce; and his nephew, Esteban G. Ponce II.
Ismael served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017, at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the mortuary. Burial will take place at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria, where military honors will be performed.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Heartfelt sympathy to Roy, Christina and all of the PONCE family at this time of sorrow. Mike was a kind and gentle man. He loved his children and was always there for them.
